Cane Begonia is a woody, fibrous-rooted, usually
upright evergreen perennial that grows up to 4 feet tall. It has
slender, bamboo-like stems with regularly spaced swollen nodes and
broad, asymmetrical, deeply toothed to lobed leaves. Leaves palmately
lobed, base color mid green. Leaf blade with silvery white markings;
markings very faint - dense; appearing as sparse, thin streaks or
clustered spots, or covering almost the entire leaf blade with the
exception of the vein. Juvenile leaves light green with pale pink -
reddish tinge. Male and female flowers white and pink - male flowers
with 2 tepals; female flowers with 5 tepals. Cane Begonia is native to
Brazil, cultivated worldwide as a garden plant.
